Vaccines for Puppies & Dogs

A dog who is out hunting 7 days a week will need a different vaccine plan than one who spends most of its time indoors. There are a variety of diseases you can protect your pet against and our team can support you to choose which ones will work best. From their puppy days throughout their senior years, their vaccination plan will change to meet their current needs.

Is there a general vaccine plan you recommend?

There are some vaccinations we highly recommend for all puppies regardless of their lifestyle. Typically, puppies should start getting vaccinated at 8-weeks-old up until they’re 16-weeks-old. After that, they’re given boosters. Please note that after 3 years of receiving the Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus & Parainfluenza (DHPP) vaccine annually, your pet will only need it every 3 years. • 8 weeks – DHPP
• 12 weeks – DHPP, Leptospirosis & Rabies
• 16 weeks – DHPP, Leptospirosis & Rabies
• Yearly – DHPP, Leptospirosis & Rabies

What other vaccines are available for my pet?

Some vaccines are available to your pet depending on their current needs. This includes their lifestyle, age, and risk factor of contracting some diseases. We can explore the purpose of each of these non-core vaccinations to help you decide if your pet could benefit from them:

• Coronavirus – A virus passed on through feces, which puppies are more likely to contract severe symptoms of.
• Gardia – A vaccine currently undergoing more testing to protect against one of North America’s most common waterborne parasites.
• Kennel cough – A respiratory virus that your pet will need to be protected against if they are boarding in kennels.
